Asexuality is the lack (little to none) of sexual attraction to others. It is a sexual orientation.
There is still some discussion about the definition because the asexual spectrum is very broad.
How do you know if you are asexual?
The following characteristics of asexuality are often mentioned:
- An absence of sexual fantasies.
- Some asexuals have a libido, but there is little need to make love with another person.
- Some asexuals have feelings of attraction, or even love, but then there is no lust and no sexual attraction involved.
- Many asexuals need an intimate relationship with one special person. The distinction between them and those who do not know this need is sometimes referred to as “romantic” and “aromantic”.
